Check out the video report of the expo at the Lazy Dog! Props go to Yves Marchon for putting this one together.
After Milan we were off to our last destination: Barcelona. Thanks to delays in Milan we arrived pretty late but luckily Barcelona never sleeps. After checking in in the hotel we met up with friends old and new, went for some drinks and finished the evening off with unarguably the worst tapa’s of our lives. That’s what you get when you walk into a tourist trap with your eyes wide open. The next day, after a nice breakfast, we were off to an early start at the Montana gallery. There was a lot of work to be done but by the evening the expo was hung and the crowd that was gathering outside in front of the doors was let in. There was a good crowd, beer was flowing and the dj was providing good music. Even Steve’s parents, who were traveling through Europe made it to the opening. The night ended with some kick ass seafood at the harbor, some hanging out at the beach and a couple of ice cold mojito’s in the center of Barcelona.
That’s it. The tour is over. It’s was an intense ride, an exhausting, one week whirlwind tour through four major European cities… A big thank you goes out to Sixpack France & Element Skateboards and all the people that helped out!
After a long wait for our luggage as the luggage handlers were watching Italy lose their first match of soccer in the Euro 2008 cup, we were off to a unwelcoming Milan, where we arrived around 11:30 pm. After a late dinner we didn’t party, the next day promised to be a heavy one.
Sixpack’s distributor arranged a press preview at 11 am and a lot of people showed op. Steven and Justin talked to different magazines about their art and the tour and even had a little photoshoot.
In the afternoon we were off to Nana’s store to put up the expo. A lot of people showed up and there was a nice vibe, people hanging out on the sidewalk, drinking beers and the dj was playing some good music.
The night ended with a kick ass dinner and Karaoke!
Working on the reports of the last two openings, they’ll be up soon. All of the openings are behind us but that doesn’t mean you can’t go see Steven and Justins awesome work anymore.
In Paris the expo stays up at The Lazy Dog untill the 5th of july. Berlin and Milan will keep the expo going for 2-3 weeks (more detailed info coming asap) and in Barcelona the expo will stay up untill about the 27th…
Go have a look and enjoy Our Mountain
Day 3 in Berlin was spent taking care of business. In the morning we went by the gallery to pick up some stuff. Boxes were packed, Steven signed some boards and we said goodbye to one of our hosts, Akiko. Once everything was dealt with we went on a little guided tour of the lodown offices, which are really nice. With a new issue of lodown in the making we didn’t want to disturb for too long so afterwards we spent a little bit of time in the centre of Berlin, before we took off to Milan. A big thank you goes out to Marok and Akiko for all their help…and the 200km/h top speeds!!!
Next up: Milan…if we finally get out of this sorry excuse for an airport
After the refreshing swim Marok took us for a traditional German Dinner (Konigsberger Klopse anyone?) followed by Germany’s favorite hobby: Watching soccer games. It was the first game for the German team in the 2008 European cup. Needless to say that during the game all life in Berlin came to an end and that all eyes were fixed on the ball. We actually watched the game in a pretty cool space… beer, bradwurst and sauerkraut were present, as well as a cool crowd.
The score: Germany: 2 - Poland: 0
We woke up the day after the expo with the sun blazing in the sky. Being in big cities can be tiresome, so we decided to hit up one of the lakes outside Berlin for a swim. Marok from Lodown Magazine was brave enough to take us all in his car and after a little trip on the german Autobahn at top speeds of 200km/h it was time to cool down. The lake Marok picked is pretty big and it has an island in the middle which can be reached by a little ferry. After that a little walk through the forest is enough to find the perfect swimming spot.
Fast Forward and Rewind! The last expo is on it’s way, the stops at Berlin and Milan are behind us. It’s been a blast and the Barcelona stop is shaping up to be an awesome one. It’s been hard to keep up with the pace, being on a whirlwind tour around Europe.
The crew’s exploits in Paris are already legendary, but who better than Justin to tell you more about them… After Paris we were off to Berlin, Techno Capital of the World, which upon arrival had a nice surprise for us, but more on that later. The following is a little photo report on setting up the expo in Berlin.
Upon arriving, Justin and Steve went right down to business
